Submitting a PSA?
Non profit events and fundraiser can be submitted by email to email@example.com. We will not air events for free that are paying for advertising on any other media outlet (newspaper, radio, television, etc.) PSA’s are posted on this page, and given random live mentions on one or more of our 5 Albany radio stations. We cannot guarantee when or if your event will be mentioned, as it is subject to time availability and on-air host discretion. PSA’s should be submitted no less than 2 weeks prior to an event. Please do not send only a flier or simply a link to a page where we can “find” the information for your event. Submit a short paragraph describing the Who, What, When, Why, How much, and most importantly, what the profits will benefit.
Food prep/canning classes
OSU Extension Service Master Food Preservers are offering a 4-part series of hands-on food preservation classes in August to help community members learn to preserve our fresh, local produce for year-round enjoyment. Each class will focus on a difference aspect of safe, healthy food preservation. These classes are appropriate for both novice food preservers and those with experience who hope to update their skills and knowledge. Classes can be taken individually or as a series.
Preserving Fruits. Thursday August 4
Review of basic techniques and equipment to preserve fruits and fruit products such as pie fillings, jams, jellies and juices. Preserve fruit products in class to practice boiling water canner techniques.
Preserving Vegetables and Meats. Thursday August 11
Review use and care of a pressure canner as well as drying and freezing tips. Pressure can vegetables in class.
Preserving Tomatoes & SalsasThursday August 18
Review current, safe methods for tomato preservation including “The Laws of Salsa,” and green tomato options. Make and try a variety of salsa recipes.
PicklingThursday August 25
This class covers safe procedures for fermented and quick pickles as well as selecting and preparing ingredients.
Classes are 6-9 pm and are held at the Linn Extension Office on Highway 34 (33630 McFarland Road, Tangent, OR.) There is plenty of free parking.
Pre-registration is required because of limited class size. Cost is $18 per class or $60 for the series. All ingredients and supplies are included.

Pay it Forward Back to School Bash–Lebanon–August 25th
Pay It Forward…One Blessing at a Time is hosting a back to school bash on Thursday August 25th from 5 to 7pm in the parking lot next to the store located on at 525 S Main St. in Lebanon. Hot Dogs, a Dunk Tank, free clothes, and school supplies, plus a petting zoo. Everyone is welcome to attend.
